Jared Palefsky, 6, attended Golfest with his father Sheldon and grandparents Elliot and Vivian. Jared's favorite activity was chipping a ball at a target in the "Fun Zone" area.

"This is pretty cool," said Jared, who wore a cap autographed by 21 golfers.

The Fun Zone included five games for children, who earned spins on the prize wheel based on how they fared. Prizes included golf towels, caps, balls and a money clip, which Jared collected on his third and final spin.

Jeff Cotchran, a golf pro from the Orlando, Fla., area who operated the Fun Zone on Saturday, said the games are designed for children, such as using smaller clubs. It also is very popular with adults, such at the retirement community, The Villages, near Orlando.

"They go nuts," Cotchran said.

There was an exhibition booth for The First Tee of Savannah youth golf program, as well as "birdieball," where golfers launched objects at targets. Bluegreen Resorts had information for vacationers. On the medical sid......
