Brandon Dailey hopes he's taken the first step in making Canada's national junior baseball team.

Dailey, 16, was one of 55 players selected from across the country to attend the Mizuno Junior Elite Development Camp at the Rogers Centre from Sept. 19-22. The event was put on by Major League Baseball, Baseball Canada and Mizuno Canada.

"It was a great experience," the five-foot- nine, 160-pounder said. "I learned a lot of great stuff."

Dailey hopes this is a continuing step in his long baseball journey.

Dailey has been playing baseball for 12 years. This past season, he played for the Brantford Minor Baseball Association's midget AAA team and the under- 16 Intercounty Terriers, an elite team that plays out of the Premier Baseball League of Ontario.

The Terriers have their own schedule of games and they also play in several showcase events in the U. S. This season, the team went to Tennessee, Connecticut, Ohio, New York and, most recently, Arizona.
