Former Canadian Tour regular and 1996 Manitoba Open champ Rob McMillan had a solid day on his home course and his 69 left him just three shots behind the logjam of leaders at -5.

McMillan, who now works for Nike Golf Canada, estimates his new job as a sales rep for Manitoba and Saskatchewan has limited him to fewer than 10 rounds prior to yesterday but it didn't seem to take long to shake off the rust.

"I knew that if I could get a few good rounds under my belt that I could maybe make something happen, but I had zero expectations," said McMillan, noting he'd only played nine holes at Pine Ridge before this week. "I didn't play all that great but I finished well. I made birdies on 15, 16 and 17 and almost made another on 18."
