The World Softball League will be making its first ever stop in Rochester this weekend with the WSL Miken Midwest Championships at the McQuillan Fields.
The WSL has over 7,500 teams and coordinates over 100 tournaments across the country. The league includes high-level men and women's slowpitch softball.
Eighty-two teams will be competing in Men's B, C and D Divisions, and the women's open class. Teams are traveling from across the Midwest including Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri and Minnesota. There are numerous local teams competing as well.
Games begin Friday at 6 p.m., with play continuing Saturday and Sunday. The women's open champion will be crowned on Saturday evening. The men's championship games for each division are on Sunday afternoon.
The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission is hosting the event, led by tournament director Ben Boldt.
